YAHNW In Your School
Once a week for 50 minutes. That’s all it takes to inspire performance, change behavior, witness growth, and encourage civility with the next generation of leaders.
Your teachers, our certification and lesson plans. 50 minutes a week. 40 sessions taught over four years. More engaged humans.
Facilitated Growth
Students respond enthusiastically to the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas in an atmosphere where there really are no “wrong” answers. It is an opportunity for self-expression and release. Through the facilitation model, students discover that others also have questions about the world and their place in it. Team exercises deepen awareness of communication styles, and the sharing of observations promotes discovery of self.
Our Mission
The mission of You Are Here... Now What? is three-fold, and it supports formal education by focusing on communication, personal development and citizenship, by Guiding Youth on the Path from Engagement to Persistence and Completion with Confidence.
If Communication is the Key…
The YAHNW program addresses four categories of interactions that are critical to successful connections within education communities.
1. Communication in all of its forms
2. Personal development
3. Citizenship responsibilities
4. Career planning
We actively engage our students and teachers with comprehensive group activities, kinesthetic learning techniques, and individualized planning.
…Then Confidence is the Outcome
As students grow with YAHNW, they gain the skills needed to be effective communicators and self-aware and others-aware individuals. Notably, Outfluence teaches the steps leading to, and the benefits associated with, persistence and completion, or finishing what you start. Critical in the workplace, both logistically and in the creative process, this is also an essential part of the path to success. By focusing on workplace communication, relationships and citizenship, YAHNW builds the confidence young people need to tap into the Power of Self-Assurance!
Supporting not Replacing
While academic classes prepare students with the knowledge needed for testing success, college acceptance, and/or workplace skills, the purpose of YAHNW is to increase the students’ potential for persistence and completion in their post-secondary education experiences and in achieving workplace/career success.
The Process
Sessions are led by facilitators, not lecturers, and are:
Interactive – utilizing group projects, activities and experiences that demonstrate how communication involves all of the senses.
Creatively designed – engaging the students and encouraging participation, so that not only do students develop stronger, more effective communication skills, they learn about themselves, too.
